5. Introducing yourself

When you introduce yourself in any language you should say your name, where you come from and possibly your profession and age.

The verb “chiamarsi” (call youself) is a reflexive verb (a verb whose direct object is the same as its subject. e.g. “I wash myself”), therefore it uses reflexive pronoums:

  • Mi chiamo … (my name is)
  • Ti chiami … (your name is)
  • Si chiama … (he/she is called)
